Independent Strings



To give acoustic tapping a more baroque or decorated sound you will need to spice up the multi string riffs. In order to put some Mrs. Dash on your riffs you will need how to independently work with strings. Previously all the exercises we played were void of this technique, and its very vital to understand these tapping affects. In open D (D A D F# A D)
I will give you an example:

It seems kinda complicated but it isn't, by now you should be able to do this exercise easily. So the purpose of this exercise is to show how you are alternately tapping from the 1st and 2nd strings and always hammering on and pulling off on the first string. Just keep that first finger planted holding down the 1st and 2nd strings on the 4th fret. The ( ) around the tapped 9 means you tap only the notes indicated inside the ( ), so if you see the (T) only tap the notes inside ( ).

So when you play this song you can hear this playing in the background:

This is what your left hand is playing. And your right hand simply taps two different notes.
